Mosaic Summer Enrichment Program

About the Program

A. The Mosaic Summer Enrichment Program is a 1-week, residential enrichment program exposing participants to:

  • Health Care Careers in the following professions:
    • Medicine
    • Dentistry
    • Nursing
    • Pharmacy
    • Research
    • Health Related Professions
    • Population Health
  • ACT Prep
  • Personal & Professional Development Workshops

B. The dates for the program are:  June 23rd-29th

C. The program will take place in Jackson, MS on the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s campus during the day.

D. At night students will be housed with one roommate at Tougaloo College, chaperoned by trained personnel.

E. Students will be transported daily between UMMC’s and Tougaloo’s Campus via Groome Transportation

F. The program is completely free of charge. All housing, food, and activities are payed for by the IMPACT the RACE program, a grant funded by HRSA. Participants are responsible for transportation to and from drop off and pick up, as well as any vaccines needed for approval of attendance, and any supplies

G. Parents/Guardians of participants MUST attend the parent orientation at the beginning of the program.

H. The program is aimed at students who reside in a rural area of Mississippi (a town with a population less than 20,000).

I. A parent/student interest meeting will be held virtually on Thursday, December 21st at 6:30 PM via Zoom. You can access this meeting link here. 

To be eligible for the program you must:

  1. Complete the application in its entirety by the application deadline of Friday, March 1st, 2024 @ 11:59 PM.
  2. Have 1 recommendation form submitted from a current or former science-based teacher completed by Friday March 1st, 2024 @ 11:59 PM
  3. Be currently enrolled in a rural Mississippi High School. 
  4. Reside in a town with a population less than 20,000.
  5. Hold the classification of Junior or Senior in the 2024-2025 School Year (Meaning you are currently enrolled as a sophomore or junior in the 2023-2024 school year.)
  6. Have a GPA of 3.0 or above.
  7. Have parents consent to attend the program.
